My dog howls at 6 am!

My dog wakes up early, usually 6 am. She sleeps in the kitchen where the boiler is located (there is nowhere else for her to sleep) and when the boiler comes on in a morning it wakes her up. She then howls. I get up to let her out for a wee - I suppose thats fair enough as she had her last wee at 10pm-ish. I then go back to bed for an hour (if I'm lucky before my DS wakes - that is if the howling hasn't already woken him!) but she then whines/howls on and off until I get up. She can't need to do out again as she's just been so I guess she's doing it 'cos she wants to be with me. She's not allowed upstairs.

Any ideas on what I can do? I've tried ignoring the howling but it just gets louder and I'm worried that it'll bother the neighbours or they'll think I'm not looking after her properly

I want a lie-in till 7 - its the holidays

Sorry I have no idea on this one.
Normally if you ignore then it stops them but it will get worse before it gets better.

Or perhaps you could get her a bone or something that she can chew in the morning to keep her occupied till you get up?

Change the time on the boiler to 7am?

My dog who has never done this before started doing this last week. I think it was because DD had been ill and started getting up at 6.30 rather than 7.30 and the dog got used to it and wanted to get up then.

We totally ignored it. I even ignored her for a couple of minutes when I first came downstairs when I normally let her straight out. She hasn't done it the last couple of days, I really think you need to not reward the behaviour, which you do by going down there.
