I just gave the guinea pigs some kind of cabbage leaves, which they are enjoying very much, 2 pigs eating one piece and about to meet in the middle but I forgot to check if they are allowed to have it.

If it is poisonous for them, how soon...

Cabbage should be fine - I give ours most kinds of greens.

Thank you

Do piggies ignore things they shouldn't have?

And do they eat more in the colder weather than the summer?

They eat shedloads more when it's colder - although ours don't really need the encouragement.

According to the breeder we bought ours from, the older ones are generally ok at avoiding things that mean them harm, but younger ones less so.

Makes me sound like a tragically obsessed piggy owner, but this site helped me no end with advice

Mine are still babies (6-12 months when we got them in Sept) and they seem to like their food. Tried them on toast today.

And it shows you how much attention I paid because it says there cabbage can cause gas! Not poisonous though, just not recommended daily.

Thank you for the link, snigger. That will help.
