Do dogs get hairballs??

Our dog has recently been clearing her throat alot, like she has a fur ball or is going to be sick

I'm concerned that there may be something stuck in her throat.

Does anyone know if this is normal for dogs?

It isn't normal - could be a foreign body or possibly kennel cough. Kennel cough is an extra vaccine that you have to ask for, and the vaccine doesn't cover all strains.

our collies have a cough sometimes that sounds like a hairball - feasible in their case as they're basically walking furballs!

Well we took her to the vets this pm and it is kennel cough! poor thing had a raised temp and a sore throat, she had an antibiotic injection and has some tablets to take for a few days

Poor pooch!

Aw - well, at least you got her to the vets sharpish.

Wishing her a very speedy recovery x
