I've just started reading this, and am not to say I've read many many dog books but this is awesome:

here

Her take on the human-dog relationship is so refreshing, so kind, so simple - she makes statements like 'dogs don't lie' and talks about keeping the light in your dog's eyes, as a means of judging whether to use a particular training menthod.

I'm not very far into it but am just bowled over by it tbh.

A much-needed antidote to Cesar Millan and the like.

Put it on your Christmas list and do your dog a favour

It really is good, Bedlam - I think you'd enjoy it.
Took my own advice and used that wholesale naturediet site - they deliver fast, don't they? And naturediet for 50p is ace!

ooo do tell! Naturediet fans here!Is this the one you linked me the other day Bella?

Anyway...think I mayhaveti order myselfthe book for Christmas!

BellasSparklyBaubles · 12/12/2009 22:32

Ew, Bedlam - thanks for the heads up about the bulging packs!!!
Yes, overflowing - it's Berriewoods. They sell 'breeder packs' which are end of production runs where the weight of the packs may not be spot on, but for 50p (or less!) who cares?
Cheaper than pedigree chum

Thanks for the recommendation Bella I have added the book to my amazon list and made huge hints to OH and DC. Here hoping

mistletoeandjuan · 14/12/2009 16:19

That book is excellent.

This one - the other end of the leash

is also quite good if you like gentle training methods & want to understand dogs behaviour without resorting to all that 'show 'em you're the pack leader' crap

minimu · 14/12/2009 16:22

I loved the other end of the leash mistletoeandjuan

mulledfruitshootandcheese · 14/12/2009 16:29

oh no, other people have discovered Berriewoods!
gerrof I found them first.
Had them deliver for ages before I realised they were 10 minutes away from me! Not telling you where though.
( I always buy the brown packs, they sometimes have damaged packs for less too)

BellasSparklyBaubles · 14/12/2009 17:00

Yes, other end of the leash is good too - this book is less practical, more of a general behaviour/ philosophy book.
Shall we send a copy to Cesar?
Berriewoods was recommended to me on another forum - was that you, Mulledfruit?! Hint - it wasn't Netmums!

mmm no don't remember recommending it, don't go on any other parenting forum so couldn't have been me.

BellasSparklyBaubles · 14/12/2009 19:01

lol, just joking. Wasn't a parenting forum. Let's face it, I never go outside of Pets on here so why would I go on another parenting forum?

What exactly do people talk about on the other threads?!

OP posts:
MitchyInge · 14/12/2009 19:03

horses, jizz and heating at the moment

mulledfruitshootandcheese · 14/12/2009 19:04

is there a dogsnet?

BellasSparklyBaubles · 14/12/2009 19:30

I've been on Chat

Looked a bit bleak - but then I spotted a dog thread

Mitchy - horses, heating: okay. Jizz?

I too popped into chat very very relieved to see you giving out good advice Bella.

BellasSparklyBaubles · 16/12/2009 08:58

That was weird!

Cat stepped on the keyboard and I ended up on Food

Did anyone else know there was a Food section on MN?
