Hamster virgin - can I give it a toilet roll?

oh and I am a hamster virgin. I have no idea if 'Mr Sponge' has been at it with a lady hamster.

I'm not sure it would fit a loo roll up there, virgin or not.

yes - a toilet roll inner is fine, so is a kitchen roll inner. I usually give newpaper aswell, cut up smallish as our hamster likes to ripp it up and put into bed.

I also line the cage with newspaper to save on sawdusty stuff sometimes hammseter likes to get between pages! and has grat fun

both of ours love gnawing their rolls, and we also have a foil inner one wedged back to front halfway up cage-like a balancing beam and they love sitting on it

they also leave skid marks on their beam

They also like egg boxes - the cardboard kind obviously. Just put some kitchen roll torn into strips inside and they love to snuggle up

toilet rolls are good.
anything that they can run/squeeze through is all fine.
ours used to sleep in a honey jar.

mine likes toilet rolls too, and recentley he nicked a pair of DS's socks and now sleeps in one like a little sleeping bag, it's adorable!

Loo roll is great. You can use ripped up loo roll paper for bedding. Value loo roll is very cheap beding plus when it's finished hammy has a new toy.

You can tie a loo roll with some sheets left on it to the cage bars and voila! a ready made bedding dispenser for your hammie.

Very funny watching them run off with it like a miniscule andrex puppy.
