Dog with cloudy urine

My 11 month old girl has cloudy urine. Took her for a walk late afternoon and for some reason I watched her doing a wee. As it came out it looked cloudy and had a stringy discharge at the end of the flow. She has done a lot of under the tail licking and seems slightly subdued.

Is this a urine infection? Is a trip to the vets essential or can I treat myself?

Normal urine can be cloudy but the discharge and licking may be suggestive of something else, perhaps an infection.

Is she spayed? Could she be in season?

She's booked in to be spayed next week. Last season ended mid-September.

Meant to add that I didn't realise it could be cloudy & normal. I'd only noticed it being non-cloudy before, so assumed there was something wrong today.

Of course since I described her as being subdued, she's now having a mad 5 minutes and bounding round the room!

I'd get her checked over. Get a sample if you can (usually easiest to ask your vet for a special collection tray - much easier than trying to catch it in a small bottle!) and take that with you. Try and take note of whether she's peeing more than normal too.

It can sometimes look a little cloudy when it's coming out, iyswim, but if it usually looks clear then you need to see the vet.
