Hi
Just wondered if anyone has experience of their pet having a caratact removal and if so could share your experiences such as how effective it is, does the animal suffer etc. Does anyone know of a good place to have it carried out?

Have you spoken to your vet about this? It would need to be a specialist referral to have this done and there are only some cataracts that will be suitable too - other factors will need to be taken into account such as age, other health issues, quality of sight excluding the cataract, age of the cataract (needs to be "mature" before surgery possible). I would suggest you talk to your vet and if you think this is still an option then ask them to refer you to a veterinary ophthalmologist for further advice/pet assessment.

Thanks for your advice Beautifulgirls, We did speak to the vet who said would refer us to the relevant clinic. Our dog is 16 now and we didn't want to put her through any pain and suffering unneccessarily if its not successful. If having treatment would give her better quality of life we might take the chance. Think we will contact and have indepth discussions with the clinic. Thanks again.
