Can you get non-pedigree white cats?

We want to get another kitten or young cat, DD is desperate that this time its white. I can only find pedigree white ones and don't want to pay £300 for a cat. Do normal cats not come in white?

Yes, they do. Cats Protection often have them as some people don't like them.

Ingles2 just got two, from a farm I think.

Good luck in your search

They are often deaf so not road safe. Beware!

Yes, my DH had a white moggy with green eyes years ago.

His hearing was fine and I believe they are more likely to be deaf if they are blue-eyed.

White cats can look quite grubby and nothing shows up as badly as white cat hairs. We have two almost entirely white cats now and seem to be constantly using a lint roller.

i had a beautiful white cat not scruffy as suggested nor pedigree, amber eyes
if they have blue eyes more likely to be deaf its true i think

Thanks, I'll keep searching.

My parents have a white cat they got from the RSPCA. She is hard of hearing and has one blue eye and one yellow eye. She also looks very very grubby a lot but is gorgeous and cuddly!

I have a white moggy...well she's supposed to be white but likes to roll in everything she can find so is more kind of cream/grey/brown, but white underneath! Anyway, she has 2 blue eyes and is not deaf, not even selectively deaf like my other 2.

i had the most beautiful white cat when i was younger... he had one blue eye and one green. wasnt deaf but did only have half a tounge... i was so so so upset when he had to be put too sleep.. 6 years ago now but i still miss him...

ok now back on track... you can get white moggys although sellers will still try and charge about £100... think they have cottoned on to the face there harder to come by..

I have a white moggy too! We got her from a local rescue shelter. She is SPARKLING white as she refuses go outside to get grubby. Not deaf either - can hear a tin being opened a mile away!

Oh and she only cost us 15 quid at the time (7yrs ago)
