Cat fleas that just wont go away..

Ok so young cat gets fleas.I see a few on him he scratches I get a few bites on legs..

I frontline him, spray entire house with zodiac,hoover up,wash all bedding and i still get odd bite

he is scratching again and i put the other two frontline on him (that three in 5 weeks)

and i just got another bite and can hear him scratching....

just about had enough now

what do i do??

Well what we did was call the council, pay them £52 and they sent out the pest controllers who sprayed the entire house which - touch wood seems to have sorted it.

The problem is not just the cat - our cat died and then the fleas turned up - it was gross, I kept having to pick them out of DS's hair

They apparently love skirting boards - so vacuum often - you need to vacuum behind the sofas etc daily if you are treating with spray to get rid of the eggs.

But honestly it was money well spent to get the professionals in (though you do need to evacuate for 4-5 hours afterwards). I had already spent £20 on flea sprays for the house which frankly didn't work.

I think we used Zodiac as well and the pest guy said it was rubbish and not strong enough.

Get to the vets and get hold of a decent household spray, and change from Frontline to something else like Stronghold.

We had a big flea problem a few months ago. Having tried everything else I bought some of those electric flea traps. They are a light buld with a sticky disk underneath (about £10 from pet shops), the fleas get attracted by the heat from the light, and then get stuck on the sticky bit. We had 2 downstairs and 2 upstairs, and it cured the problem within a week.

My kitten had been scratching for weeks, but as she'd been frontlined when I got her and hadn't been around any other cats since I took her home I assumed it wouldn't be fleas. However, a few weeks ago I found a flea, and a quick comb with a nit-comb found a huge number of fleas. The vet gave me advantage flea treatment and within 24 hours she'd stopped scratching. Three weeks later I haven't seen any signs of fleas, so perhaps see if you can get some from the vet if frontline isn't working.

I also comb my kitten with a flea comb at least twice a week (haven't found any fleas since treatment, but it did pull out all of the dead fleas -eugh!) and shake off any blankets/cushions she's slept on at least a couple of times a week, just in case of eggs etc, and it seems to have worked.
