We had one like that for years and our elderly cat never glanced at it. Two weeks after our new kittens arrived it was a goner.

Well, put it this way, the kitties are a year old now and I'm still not ready to try getting another lamp. Maybe in a couple of years when they are more mature and sensible.

We use those strings of silver beads to anchoir it to the radiator pipes so the darlings don't knock it over.

Well, they were only tiny last Christmas, so they did climb it but it was fine. This year, now, that's a good question. Anchoring it sounds like a good plan.
