Is it best to give Guinea Pigs their fresh fruit and veg in the morning or at tea time?

My piggies say both .

i give them bits of things all through the day

Mine don't like the sweetcorn I bought them

DH didn't see the point of the hutch cover but I have rigged up a cover which will do just as well and where they are gets no sun in the summer for more than an hour or so in the morning so they should be okay.

They are playing out at the moment. Girl piggie is eating some hay.

Is it not too cold out for them?? My dd wanted to take hers onto the tramponline for a run earlier (they love it, no one bounces tho) and I said it was too cold, we had frost this morning. BTW mine eat fruit and veg all day, greedy things.

I feed them vegetables at various times of the day. Ours do like corn on the cob, but it normally takes them a bit of time to get one started, but once they've eaten a few kernels they find it easier. They do eat most of the cob too if we leave it in their cage - not sure that's very good for them.

It isn't too cold as the sun is out and I will be bringing them in soon in case it rains while I am on the school run.

I will keep going with the sweetcorn. Maybe they will soon tuck in.

Dh has a habit of popping out with a few snacks for ours last thing every evening - he calls it 'their little midnight snack' .

I've ordered one of these for ours to see if we can extend the time we keep them outside. Will report back when it arrives.

The size of one we need is £63 so I will bear it in mind for next month. Thanks .

Fab - ours have got less fussy as they've got older - 2 of them have just started to like sweetcorn after 3 years.

Every three hours or so, according to our guinea pig.....

Ours really likes melon rind, by the way - preferably with a generous layer of the flesh left on!

However, we have now taught him to stand on his hind legs for a second or two to get fruit or veg - at least this way he gets a little stretching exercise!

I only give mine veg at bedtime. She goes out in the run every day so she can eat the grass first, I want to keep her teeth under control with constant grass munching.

I'm giving mine it twice a day, at breakfast time and after their time in their run.
