spiked dog poo

my spaniel has swallowed a spike from dd's running shoe! stoopid dog. Does anyone know how soon it will pass through so I know when to start inspecting the poo to make sure he's passsed it.

ew..could be very painful.
I'd take him to the vet for an x-ray.

Definately call the vet - a perforated gut could be life threatening.
