Cat has gone missing - am distraught :-(

My cat's gone missing, I am devastated. She went out yesterday and hasn't come back which is totally unlike her, she is always bobbing about somewhere and she would be hungry by now so wouldn't just be sunning herself somewhere or asleep, she's been gone too long for that.

Please can someone cheer me up and say how their cat came back after a few days or so? I can't bear the thought of her being gone forever, or lying injured somewhere. she's my little pal. I feel sick about it. I can't go out and look for her tonight as I have DCs, although I managed a bit of a look earlier when my brother came round to babysit - but nothing. I have asked around some of the neighbours who were in but nobody's seen her, it's like she's vanished.

Any kind words much appreciated

One morning my little girl cat followed me to the station when I was on my way to work. It is a thirty minute walk so she was well out of her territory. I said to the ticket master to look out for her and left my number, then rang my dh to walk to the station to see if he could find her so she would follow him hoome. But nothing. I was worried sick.

I phoned round all the local vets and animal charities. Nothing.

Then two days later she returned, a bit grubby, but fine. Then I rang all the vets and charities to let them know, they were all so pleased.

She still follows us too much, sometimes I have to take a detour through the allotments or a local abandoned garden so that she will be too distracted to follow me too far.

She waits outside the pub for us and sometimes goes round the whole village with me, waiting outside the different shops while I make my transactions. It is very sweet and always gets lots of comments. I know that she loves me and I know that I love her too.

I hope your cat returns soon, phone around, it will make you feel better. And do call for her too.

SadCatlady · 23/08/2009 00:25

Thanks all, I have just called again as loud as I dared, and strained my ears to hear her (its reasonably quiet) but nothing.

Am off to the shops for leaflet supplies tomorrow. I am going to have a very busy day.

Hopefully off for a sleep tonight. I have smudged mascara everywhere now. Look like Alice Cooper but who cares. If she comes back I dont think I will ever want to let her out again. I am going to ask my "angels" to help bring her back even though I'm not usually a great believer in that stuff. I am now

Will keep you posted if any news (fingers crossed fingers crossed fingers crossed please!)

Please do keep us posted. I really hope she comes back to you.

my cat went missing for a over a week, and she came back as if she'd never been gone.

to you

i'm sure she will come back soon.

Salme101 · 23/08/2009 01:30

My cat went missing for 3 weeks, and it really was heartbreaking, DH and I cried over him, so I know just how you feel

We had really given up hope when he returned 3 weeks later, v thin and freaked-out. As far as we can gather, he had got shut in an entryway ten doors down. The elderly neighbour concerned still had our flyer and called us as soon as she realised and had let him out, upon which he ran straight home!

He recovered just fine, has been kept under much stricter curfew in the 3 years since, and has never done it again. Hope you get a happy ending.

Calm down, its very early days yet.

some things to do :

place an ad with pic on
www.nationalpetregister.org/

They will email you with a huge list of things to do such as ;

Leaflet/knock your immediate area - think they say most cats are found within 2 streets of home! Ask them to open sheds and outhouses, while you wait.

Place posters on nearby bus shelters, shop windows, posts.

Empty the contents of your hoover on front and back lawn, together with an item of your clothing, and some objects from home ie cat toys.

These are the immediate things to try.

Fingers crossed she has gone walkabout. My friends cat went missing for a few days 2 wks ago, and she spotted the cat across the road just wandering about! Good luck.

MoominMymbleandMy · 23/08/2009 01:37

Best of luck and keep us posted.

SadCatlady · 23/08/2009 07:26

SHE'S BACK!!!!!!!!!!!

Went down first thing not daring to hope she might be on the doorstep - and she was

She is absolutely ravenous but is cheeky as ever.

I can't believe it - it's like being given 10 of the best birthday presents rolled into one.

I know she was only missing a short while but it's completely out of character and she's not a roamer.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for holding my hand and all your kind words of happy endings. I am grateful I've got mine. I think I do believe in angels now!

xx

Thanks Confuzzled and Furious

She is completely crashed out on our bed, she can sleep wherever she wants today (ok, maybe not the nursery )

She goes crackers when she wants to go out and will pound the patio window with her paws or pluck the sofa or carpet madly until she gets let out, I can imagine she's been stuck somewhere exhausting herself like that.

If anyone had taken her in thinking she was stray to keep, they would have thought twice when she started shredding their armchair, bouncing off the furniture and miowing annoyingly loudly madly

Gosh I'm so relieved I keep going just to look at her asleep. I can't believe I've got her back. It was a magic moment when I saw her, I thought I was imagining it because I wanted to see it so much. I woke twice in the night dreaming she'd come back and was bitterly disappointed when I realised I'd only dreamed it.

I really LOVE that cat, can you tell?!?

PitysSake · 23/08/2009 21:27

great news
ours to is a roamer of some proficinecy

Amapoleon · 24/08/2009 22:10

That's great news, my poor little puss has been gone for 4 days now and I know this sounds stupid but I am aching because I miss him so much.

MoominMymbleandMy · 25/08/2009 00:36

It doesn't sound one bit stupid to me, Amapoleon. I hope you have good news soon too.

SadCatlady · 25/08/2009 19:59

So sorry Amapoleon

I know exactly how you feel.

I will cross my fingers and hope that your cat comes back to you. The other stories on here helped me realise that cats can be gone for ages and still come back.

Ask your angel to help your cat home too. (worth a try). It's hocus pocus sounding I know, but the crystal healer I know says apparently angels can only help if you ask them....

Unlike before, I'm not knocking it

sadcatlady am pleased for you. my dim ish cat did the same earlier in the yr and I was sure i'd not see her again. She was gone 48 hours.

came back, just wandered in one morning!

She did the same a few weeks back, and this time i didn't worry too much, but then I worried that I should be more worried!

Sauntered in one monring as if to say, where's my breakfast.

Eskimo79 · 17/05/2011 19:13

My cat has been missing now for 48 hours and i'm very worried :-( She disappeared once before and we found her in the roof of a disused outhouse round the corner - how she got up there i'll never know. She is only 1yrs old and is pretty small. Please send out hopeful/positive thoughts as I desperately want to wonder downstairs tomorrow moring and find her sitting there waiting for me. Miss her so much.
:-(
