We are going to be looking after FIL's dog for a week. I haven't had a dog since I was small.

Any hints? What questions should I ask? Is she likely to miss him?

How often and how much does she eat.
Any treats allowed.
How often, and where to, for walks.
Bedtimes.
Where allowed in the house.
Does she know you well?

Yes, I would think she's likely to miss him, but you can "distract" her like you would a child.

Obviously "Does she know you well" isn't a question for FIL!! I was just wondering.

In additon to that list:

What commands is she supposed to know.
If you live near FIL, their normal vet details.

Is she good with dogs/people/other animals when being walked.

Is there anything that she's afraid of.
