A tom has been hanging around our neutered female and sometimes has come inside the house (threw me as he looks just like ours!)

Anywho, there's now a distinct pissy smell by the back door, what's the best way to get rid of the smell without upsetting/harming our cat?

Just spray a bit of air freshener about?

Well I've actually cut up a mouldy 2 month old orange and put it in a bowl of hot water..... I'm almost Martha Stewart

Wash the area well with a non biological soap powder, rinse with clean cold water, dry the area as much as you can. Then get a small plastic plant sprayer and put a small amount of 1/2 surgical spirit and 1/2 water in it, shake it up and spray the washed area with the solution. This will break down the fatty deposits in the urine, which cant be washed away and get rid of the odour.

This will help prevent the Tom Cat from re-spraying that area. Do not use anything else, except vinegar, as that will just change the scent and invite him to spray over it again with their own.

i am sure your catflap is as clean as a whistle. Mine, on the otherhand....

right, most sites are saying 50% white vinegar mixed with 50% water. It deoderises and prevents the cat/vicar coming back.
