How much to pay the dogsitter?

We have just been away for a week and we had someone look after our dog for us (8 nights). It is an odd set up because the lady in question asked to walk our dog for free sometimes as she doesnt have a dog of her own and she has been doing this for about 6 months. She was happy to have our dog stay at her house while we went away but I dont know how much to pay her - what do you think?

the price of the food plus a bit more for the trouble...

I provided the food and anything she might need. What amount do you think?

if it helps and it proberly wont, but we paid £80 for our cat to go into a cattery for 17 nites. i dnot know, maybe £20 - £30. say £25 that works out at £3.13 a nite. HTH

Rather than giving her money perhaps you could get her something she needs - this is less likely to cause any embarrassment. Try to find out - perhaps she needs something for the garden or the house.

thedogsmother's idea sounds better, when neighbours have looked after our cat we have given plants/chocolates/bottles of wine and such like...
