Alright - decided on getting a dog!!!
Have also decided on the breed - working cocker.
Thinking it should be a bitch, as thinking less temperemental and with children - 3 and 7 - in the house.
What do you think?

we have a bitch - and she is n o trouble

you should really get a dog from a dogs home though

i wud rather have a bitch anytime as we had a dog and even after he was spayed he was always wondering off!!

Depends whether you"re planning on neutering or not. If you neuter I can't imagine any more problems with one or the other. Unneutered dogs can be problematic (aggression, running away etc...), and unspayed bitches can be bitches. Our (neutered) dog is just a teddy bear.

I'm also planning to get a bitch (golden retriever) because of the leg shagging thing. Very interested in other opinions over whether it's an issue or not.
