I've never had any insurance for my dogs before but my last dog cost a lot of ££££s so I would like to take out insurance for my pup. She was from a rescue centre and they said I would get 4 weeks free from some company they use (as an incentive to sign up I guess) anyway I asked them many, many times about more details about this and haven't heard anything more about it - I think paperwork is not really their thing so I still haven't sorted anything out and really feel that I should.
The vet said not to go for Tesco as it's like getting blood out a stone so any other recommendations for me?

Thanks for all your responses. My head is in a spin now! I've done a few online quotes today.Petplan seems v expensive (second only to the kennel clubs one). Pup is an 8m purebred lab and has already been treated for mange and entropian so has existing complaints so that is bumping up the cost as I have to tick the box [sigh] but I know it's the right thing to do.
Decisions, decisions !

Sainsbury insurance is FAB..they cover up to £6500 per condition with no time limit for the condition and its not a big monthly payment.
They paid up within a couple of days everytime we claimed last year. We had only had the policy for about 10 months.
Their customer service were brill and they were really good when our dog unfortunately died. They paid out each time for the same condition.
I can't recommend them highly enough. Their insurance is all through Axa.

Go for Petplan!
Whichever company, though, go for a lifetime policy, not one that only covers conditions for 12 months.
