Pet Psycoloist needed; Why did my cat shit on the sofa last night?

I have 2 normally well behaved cats who sleep in the kitchen and cat go out throught the cat door if they want to.

Somehow they can occasionally get into the living room and are able to sleep on the sofa, which annoys me a bit as I have to de- hair the sofa (oh well)- but last night one of them pooed on it.

WHY? It's just not right,is it?

Are you sure it is their poo? We found a big shiny turd on living room carpet twice in one week and then caught a big tom popping through the flap.

Or is another cat coming in the cat flap and harassing them? That can really upset them. Shut the front room door at night and don't let them in.

Cats can react in weird ways to change and threats. My cat crapped all the way up and down the hall when we first moved into our house. I was pretty hacked off!
