Where do you put your hamster when cleaning out their cage?

Apparently they don't like those balls for running around in and it is recommended they play in the bath - without water.

Not practical but she needs cleaning out. What do you do?

bung it in a bucket

In the bath. Or if your bathroom is safe then in there. I don't have one now but this is what I used to do when we did!

FabulousBakerGirl · 27/05/2009 10:01

Actually that's not a bad idea. Have to be a nappy bucket though.

I wonder how you can tell they if they don't like the ball. I thought ours loved it!

SlartyBartFast · 27/05/2009 10:05

SlartyBartFast · 27/05/2009 10:05

how strange.

Fridge.

Blooming thing jumped out of her cage.

All clean and back in bed now. Thank goodness I only have the one hamster now.

Big old baby bath...with some toys inside...was great idea when hamster was a baby! Fast forward a couple of months and returned to empty bath and missing hamster! My DS was supposed to be watching the hamster but had been distracted by the football on TV.

(Found hamster down the back of sofa)

How do you know they don't like the ball thingy? Always used to put ours in it and she gave the impression she was having a whale of a time!

YanknCock · 27/05/2009 15:42

Ours likes his ball, so he goes in there. He's got two habitrail ovo pods, so sometimes we clean them one at a time and he just stays in.

We have a butler sink in our utility room and sometimes put him in there with the plug in. Other times he enjoys running around in his ball but we have to be careful as it comes apart if bashed against a wall!

PaulaAtMummyKnowsBest · 27/05/2009 18:18

we put ours in a ball and she seems to like it

How do you know if they don't?

cookielove · 27/05/2009 18:21

there is a cage you can get that is basically like a play pen for hamsters, i put mine in the bath up un til it caught its foot and it started bleeding, and then i put a towel in the bath, which she loved cause she chewed it to pieces, that forever became biscuit's towel

FabulousBakerGirl · 27/05/2009 21:31

I read it in the paper.
