How on earth do you train a dog not to jump up at people when where ever you go......

daft old bats nice elderly people who are probably very lonely and younger people who are not allowed a pet go "Awww, puppy. Lovely cute little puppy. Jump up here"

I don't want to be rude, especially since they are only trying to be friendly. But they really aren't helping.

Oh and while you are here how to you teach the bloody things to run? Mine just gets hold of its leash in it's mouth snd walks itself when I let her off to run!!!

And at the risk of starting yet another debate why do people presume breeds are vicous? See that's another thing I get, it's either a cute lovely little puppy or a hound of baskerville.

Shesells, teach it to jump up on command, I know it sounds a bit backward but doing that will mean she/he knows to only do it when you give the correct command. If old lady wants her up you give the command, otherwise you don't and pup soesn't jump.

Running, you run, make lots of fun come here come on type noises, or, make the most of it as it won't last long?

Some people are just convinced dogs are dangerous, it makes me laugh when people are all over my GSD puppy and say things like "oh I am glad I have seen him now, by the time he is full grown I will be terrified of him"

What breed is he/she?

Giving her a command! That's a great idea. Honestly I am so thick sometimes. My other dogs have never been interested in jumping at people, but this one is so friendly she gets very very excited when she sees PEOPLE!!!

PEOPLE are the only thing that she will run for. Altough she does come back as soon as I call her, unless, like tonight the PEOPLE whistles at her to go to them.

She is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and has to be the most friendly dog I have ever owned. All she wants is to be cuddled and stroked.

Aww, I love staffies! They are a much maligned breed sadly.

We had a bitch who did not like to run, she just stayed with me the whole time but she was happy with that so I left her to it!

Yes she is a bitch too, she will not stray more than a foot away from me.

She got a bit nervous when the poodle up the road barked at her lol!!

Lol, well my GSD is now getting testosterone filled, he is getting all bolshy and confident, marches up to new dogs, gets about 2 feet away and then backs off fast, barking and trying to get behind my legs
