we are thinking about getting a couple of guinea pigs and would like to keep them indoors as i think they will get lots more attention however, a few people have said how much they smell? do they smell much? obviously i will clean them out every 2 days so any advice would be welcome - thanks.

if you are cleaning them out every couple of days they shouldn't smell. Also they tend to toilet in a preferred place so it can just be a case of scooping that bit out daily and a full clean out each week.

If you have lawn getting a run for the summer is good for them, they love grass and to have a run about.

We have ours indoor and its fine. They can smell if you don't clean them out, we keep ours in half towels/half care fresh and we change the towel every day and the carefresh 2-3 times a week.

My mum is mega critical about housey stuff and even she has commented that they are not too smelly. The hay smells a bit farmyard though!!

we have two guinea pigs and we decided after a while to risk letting them go free range ie we let them loose in the garden. The cats watch them but we have not had a death yet. we love watching them and it seems a kind way to let them live. they hop back into the cage early evening- they love the freedom.

wow, free range guineapigs??
we have free range rabbits and have just got a run for the pigs, i can see it must be tempting.
