Cat was spayed yesterday, pulled her collar off and is biting her stitches

I have a newborn and this is really doing my head in! My lovely cat was spayed yesterday and the collar lasted 5 minutes. Sent DH to the vet for another one at 10pm last night, came down this morning and it was on the floor and cat was looking smug. Rang the vet who suggested I put a t-shirt around her belly to stop her biting her stitches - tried that, cat pulled it off within minutes.
THEN tore up DD2 muslin and wrapped that around her belly, feeling smug, but yet again was on the kitchen floor when I came back downstairs.

She's been licking the stitches and one looks a bit looser, but the other three look fairly firm and the wound isn't gaping or anything.

Anyone got any tips?! I can't afford more vets bills!

Do you have an old jumper that you could cut a sleeve off and put that over her? Though perhaps she'd pull that off too. She sounds too smart for her own good.

You'd have to cut holes for her legs of course.

Put her in one of DD2 small vests. Back legs through the arm holes. Cut a hole for her head and did the poppers up under her chin.

Sorted. Thanks Thunderduck for giving me the idea!

You're welcome. I hope that stays on.

Look. Just explain to her that its for her own good and if she pulls here stitches out her innards will spill all over the floor and she will die in agony and pools of blood!

We did that. And ours never touched her stitches .
