Houdini Hamster! - what cage to keep her in?

We are the very proud owners of Nibbles, a gorgeous brown Syrian hamster. She's friendly, doesn't bite and comes when you call her but she's a pest. We have a Crittertrail cage but she manages to push up the lid of her lounge area (now taped down) and this week has forced her way out of the front door even though it is "secured" with kitchen ties, a peg and a caribina. So far aftter her 9th escape I have managed to find and return her but I now need to find her a new secure home as I'm worried that next time the cat might find her before I do. What fun SECURE cage do you recommend?
ps. she does get frequent exercise in her large exercise area " a storage box with lots of toys in"

I have used Rotastak and Ferplast cages in the past - both were good.

Best of luck with your little minx!

And Ovo - but they are made by Habitrail or Rotastak - can't remember which, sorry

Did/do your hamsters ever escape or is she a bit of a monkey?

Mine only ever escaped once - years ago my first hammie escaped and turned up two weeks later

Is the catch broken on the cage you have because they shouldn't realyl be able to push it up iyswim.

Perhaps march back to shop for refund?

No the catch is fine and actually fairly stiff but she is a powerful little thing!

mine is just a normal hamster cage

never escaped apart from when dh left the cage door open

I've been and purchased a Rody cage as this has a central sliding lid. I'm sure she won't get out of this one. Fingers crossed.

Our Houdini hamster ended up in a cage in the bath cos thats the only place she couldn't escape from.

She could climb the stairs, which if I had not seen with my own eyes I would never have believed!

hammies LOVE stairs

our 2nd hammy was long haired and had a long train/tail and he could wizz down a normal flight of stairs in a house in 10seconds and we would time him from top to bottom

he would just run down them and all we saw from the top of the stairs was a ball of fluff and a long tail/trian disapeering round the side of the hall towards the kitchen

Habitrail Ovo. Ours has never escaped (except when some numpty has left the hatch open).

we have a huge rotastak one and have never had a problem with escapees
