When to buy another dog

i would love to get another beagle to go with Jeremy who is now 9 months is it like having kids do you need a good age gap are boys best with boys or would i need to a get a girl he has been castrated so there wouldnt be any mating

i want another one to go with him any suggestions

Should be okay now as long as Jeremy (fab name btw) is quite well trained and will respond well to you - danger in having 2 pups is that they focus on each other and ignore you, with disastrous results for their training.

Definitely get a bitch rather than a dog, as spugs says.

Personally I'd have a bigger gap (1 year plus). I had a 6 month gap between mine and it was fairly disastrous. After 3 week grace period the older one took against the younger and we had to keep them apart BUT we had 2 males (castrated) and the older one was rather neurotic.
