What to do with hammie's body?

My poor hammie died of old age yesterday. Haven't told my dc's yet and he is still in his cage.

What should I do with his body? dd (5) is very interested in bodies, death, dying, bones etc. ds (7) gets upset around these topics.

If I bury him, however deep, there is every chance my dogs will dig him up, if only because they smell the fresh earth.

Should I make a 'fake grave' ready for when dc's get home - that way it spares ds seeing hammie dead, dd gets a 'shrine' to put flowers on, and he can't be dug up?

Ideas very much appreciated.

TIA

Bella

Maybe you could put him in a box and cremate him? Hold a little funeral then plant something nice on the cremation spot. If not then a fake grave seems like a good idea.

Thanks, gloomysue.

Thought it best to get on so I went ahead and buried him - pretty deep and in a spot my dogs don't really go. Plus I put a big stone on top.

Thanks for replying

Thanks, SEA.

awwwwwwwwww bella ((HUGE HUGS))

RIP hammy

we always bury ours in a coffee jar/cigar box and then dh digs a deep hole and burys, and then put earth back in and jumps on it to make sure earth is well packed down and then puts the sqaure of top turf back over it
