Do Kittens eat their own poo?

Just wondering as we brought home our Kitten on Friday and she hasn't pooed yet. I thought i could smell some yesterday, but after a check i couldn't find any. She is litter trained and she has definately had wees in there, just no sign of poo.

If shes not eating it, is it normal for a kitten not to go for 3 days? She is on Royal Cannin kitten dry and has plenty of water, am i constipating her?

i would contact vet stress of move can prevent them pooing but a blockage can become extremely painful and harder to clear so best get is checked

i do know people that have added small amount of lactulose to food but did speak to vet first

does kitten seem in pain and does belly feel rock hard?

if litter tray is in busy place maybe move it somewhere less busy and maybe kitten will feel more secure to go

Don't give her anything strange - you risk doing more harm than good.

They can hold on for a few days when they first go to a new home - leave the litter tray somewhere quiet and she should go soon.

Good luck x

Litter tray is in the downstairs loo, so nice and quiet.

She doesn't seem in pain and her stomach seems fine, not hard.

I'll wait and see then give the vet a ring if shes not gone by tomorrow.

Thanks guys.

When mummy cat stopped eating their poos, my kittens ate each others poos for about a week - obviously copying mummy - then they stopped. So, I suppose, yes- she might be eating her own poos, if that's what she's been used to seeing from mum. Just don't let her kiss you for a few days
