One of my cats is missing. What chance it will turn up again?

No-one in the family has seen him since Friday. TBH, he is very much an outdoor cat and it is not unusual to only see him once a day, but it is very unusual to not see him for nearly 48 hours now.

Ds2 and I have been round his usual haunts calling him (always worked before) and ds2 has also been round the neighbourhood knocking on doors asking if anyone had seen him. A neighbour came round earlier to say he had seen a cat, but it turned out to be our other one.

It is the not knowing what might have happened to him that is worrying me. We live on a busy road but he does not usually go on it (is very scared of it) and anyway, if he had been runover, surely someone would have found him and taken him to the vet? He is mircochipped, so we would know by now, wouldn't we?

Alternatively, a fox has had him. Is that likely?

How likely is it that he might have been snatched? He is only a black and white moggy.

As we did not see much of him, I don't feel the grief I have felt when childhood pets died, but it is awful simply not knowing what has happened to him.

Sorry, she isn't missing. I haven't seen her as i have been ill in bed and i have missed her

Brilliant, DG!
DH insisted on locking the catflap tonight so ours couldn't go missing again. I'm not sure if that is fair or not.

Yay! Glad hes back!

No doubt back off out to terrorise the mice

RockinSockBunnies · 26/04/2009 21:37

Excellent news! So glad he's back !

Dumbledoresgirl · 26/04/2009 21:37

Oh lol MuffinBaker. Leastways, not lol that you are ill in bed, but lol at my misunderstanding. So she is not the sort to come and keep you company?

I couldn't lock our cat flap as our cats are such outdoor animals. Morty coming in just now, eating and going straight back out is pretty much a daily occurrence with him. No wonder it took me 24 hours to notice he was missing.

Thank you everyone. I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to a boring week now, safe in the knowledge that my cat is safe. It has been an awful day.

She rarely comes upstairs.

Actually that is since we had DS2. (DC3)

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 27/04/2009 08:24

Glad to hear all is well

Little gits like to test our love for them!

DG, thats brilliant! So glad he is back. WOnder where he went???

Dumbledoresgirl · 27/04/2009 09:58

LadyHelen, I have no idea where he was. He didn't seem particularly hungry so presumably he wasn't locked in somewhere (unless he has a second home and was locked in there ). He was around for breakfast this morning and then went out as usual, but of course it is raining now so he was soon back in (brother too) and we have had lots of love and attention this morning. Do you ever get the feeling these pesky animals are using mankind?
