we have a kind of Shetland Collie who is shedding hair like mad at present. Is there a particular brush we could use...or just a dog sized ziploc bag?

The furminator is a brush we were reccomended for our long haired cat it was developed for dogs though and is brilliant

A good hoover.

Ours molts year round and it drives me potty.

The furminator! Great name. I am tempted to hoover the dog just to cut it off at source...

It is 20 pounds but worth every penny the amount of loose fur it gets out is quite shocking Satisfying to do and quite quick and really helps Our long haired cats moult like dogs sends me crackers!!

I use these on cats, dogs, horses children

A good bath and (don't laugh) blow dry can also get a lot of hair out

Who'd have believed a few years ago that you could show the world your furmination techniques. it looks good, fluff everywhere.

this fulfils the hoover aspect, never used it though!!

That is so good, my dh could use that when shaving too. DDog has rolled in something nasty, so tomorrow may be bath and hairdrier.
