Kennels or pet sitter for dog for a week?

Has anyone had good experiences with putting a dog into kennels for a week?

We're off to SPain for a week and am a bit nervous putting her into kennels - she's from a do and cat home - she might think she's going back in! She's a collie cross - so needs a fair bit of walking.

A couple of dog walkers do the pet sittng thing - but for £20 a day! gulp! But is it worth it for peace of mind and also house getting looked after?

Hi Tracy

I have a rescue dog who I put into kennels and she was fine - loved it, in fact. Just make sure you do your research and choose a good kennel.

i have put my rescue in kennels ,but the last time i took him the lady said ,that he really doesnt like it in kennels and perhaps id consider getting another dog as company . This year he is going to a friend who dog walks and pet sits ,as he knows her ,so it will be a home form home for him.

My dog went with a company that do home from home care. The dog goes to a specilly selected host family who look after them while you are away.
Personally didn't want my rescue greyhound to go back to kennels.

He had a great time! Even got photos of him and a postcard saying what he had been up to while we were away.

Cost was about £17 a night. I don't know how much kennels cost.

Thanks Tortoise - I'll give them a call. I might try her overnight in a kennels I've heard good things about and see how she gets on.
