You might think i'm mad, unless you've loved a pet as much as i have!!

Basically, i had my dog for 11 years, and during that time, held off having a baby as I knew potentially that he was an unsuitable pet to have with a child. Anyway, as I've got older and the craving for a baby became stronger, I convinced myself it would work, and gave into my instinct to be a mother. As you can imagine, it didnt work out, and I ended up, after much heartache, rehoming my dog with DogsTrust. I was devastated, but he went to a great home, and I have emailed them occasionally and had great reports back.

Until now. I got a mail to say that Jack's elderly owner had died, and that he had been returned to Dogs Trust in Newbury, Berkshire. I live in Wales - that's how far he had to travel to be given a place at Dogs Trust. Well, although i gave up my dog over a year ago, i think about him every day and have never stopped missing him. I am devastated that he has been returned and is looking for a new home.

That's why i'm writing this request to see if there is anyone in the Berkshire area, who is thinking about getting an older dog - lplease visit Dogs Trust and see Jack. He is an 11 year old, black and white cross breed. In his picture, he has short hair, although it grows crazily long and gives him great character. He needs to go to a home where he is the only pet, he is so lovable, and really comical and despite his age, has always been really fit.

I know many of you will say, let go, you gave him up, but i love him and can't forget him and if there's anything i can do to get him to a loving lifelong home, then i will do it. Thanks for reading this.

not local but have a look on dogs trust website and see if jack is listed and link to him here.

theres also a new animal rehoming yahoo group that you could post to. animal rehoming uk - theres a few on the board that live local to newbury.

hope jack gets a good home

why don't you take him back? Dogs and kids work - loads of people have them!

Thanks for your replies.

I couldnt have him back, he bit a child once before (not badly, but i couldnt risk it). He's a sensitive dog and needs to have a calm home, with no children or other pets. I'll have a look at the animal rehoming link too, and try and put Jack's link on here.
