I'm on your other carpet related thread .

My cat has always clawed the carpet, and I can't seem to discourage her. She has a cheap doormat to scratch, but tends to scratch this as well as, not instead of the carpet. Can you squirt the cats with a water pistol when they scratch?

water pistol sounds worth a try.

im obssessing about carpets today

we just shout and clap at her - which scares her off - but not sure that it actually trains her not to do it, iyswim. as my dad's wife always says - you've got to love animals to have them...

Spray catnip spray on their actual scratching post/old doormat, whatever. They love the smell and will love to scratch there. You can get it from PAH.

Or, if you are a seasoned cat owner like me, you grow real catnip in your garden and rub the leaves over the scratching post for a kitty drug-fest
