Hey,
I just came home from my mums and my dogs eye is puffed out and really red, her eye lid doesn't meet the eye ball and it is all red and fleshy around her eye ball.
She seems herself, and is currently asleep on my knee.
Earlier on this afternoon when i was hanging out my washing the neighbours dog pawed my dog to the ground. My dog yelped and i just shouted the other dog out of my garden and didn't think anything off it.
The other dog is a huge lab, and my dog is a cav king spaniel. Do you think it is a bruised eye?

please take her to see a vet asap,i dont mean to startle you but a similar thing happened to one of my dogs and he had to have his eye removed .ckcs are more suseptible to these types of injury as there eyes are quite bulbous.i hope its not as serious as that, maybe she has developed and ulcer caused by the other dogs claw which will need drops.eyes are so delicate, i would get her seen to straight away.

Fluster, thanks for the reply.
Yes she will need the vet to have a look at her. It's such a shame and look sso sore!
Sorry to hear about your dog, what happened to him? How old was he and how did he cope without his eye?

he got into a scuffle with one of my other dogs,he is an 8 year old pekingnese so also has bulbous eyes.happened so fast but his eye actually became dislodged and a clot formed behind it so had to be removed,he copes fine though no problems at all.he has also suffered with ulcers previously and his eye would go a cloudy blue colour, according to my vet they are very painful and the sooner treament is started the better.hope she is ok please let me know how she is.

Aw the poor boy. What a shame. Silly big eyes.
Missy's eye is looking fine today, theres no blood shot and she is letting me touch around about it. I am keeping an eye on her though and if anything changes we are visiting the vets on Monday. We need to go discuss her being spayed asap anyway. She is having her 2nd season just now, we couldn't have it done last time because she had a phantom pregnancy and started making milk. She's such a worry!
