Arghhh, fleas!

I've just spotted 2 fleas hoping happily on the sofa. I blame the cats!

It has been so long since we've had fleas that I'm not sure of the next step. The cats do not wear flea collars, mainly for their own safety, so I guess I need to get behind-the-neck-drops and the house will need a damn good vacuum. Am I missing out anything?
I am currently 17weeks pregnant so I'm assuming I need to read the labels on the flea drops carefully.
Any thing else I need to do?

many many thanks,

Me and the cats!

I don't have cats but for dogs frontline combo is v. good, will kill fleas in the house aswell as on animals, I do think you have to get it from the vets though. And yes hoover everywhere and wash their bedding or blankets where they sleep alot. I use frontline to stop my dogs getting fleas in the firt place as they tend to freak me out a bit!

Hey, i found a flea on my dog about a year ago and i've hoovered every day since lol. I freaked out because like you i didn't know what to do, I got shampoo that had 5 applications in the bottle and had to be used every week or so, a collar and the drops for the neck (which were so smelly). We also got a powder from pets at home for the bedrooms because they had carpets, it came in a big tub and you just sprinkled it on left it and hoovered it up in a bit. It worked, and fleas stayed away.

Brilliant, thanks for the replies.

We are off to the pet shop tomorrow. They have always been house cats and have never had fleas before. We've just started letting them out and I guess, with all the birds, mice and toads they bring us, they had to get their come-uppance eventually!

Google Skoosh - its a non toxic flea killer spray that you can use in the house - have used it with DS around, although did it over night and then he went to nursery the next day to give it time to dry. Its very good but take care with it on the stairs - its silicone based I think and can make carpets a bit slippy - not ideal if you are pg!
