My pigs have had mites for ever and ever.

We tried ivermectin now using mite spray regularly but they still have them

They are static mites from hay (we have changed our hay). We bath them in anti insecticidal shampoo, we clean their cage twice a week, they are currently on fleece. They are indoor pigs BTW.

What else can we do

we took our guoneas to vets who gave 2 injections and no mites we changed hay to dust extracted hay and have had no problems since the injections worked great and wasnt overly expensive worked so quick too

Yes I think vets is the next step but have read that their treatment is for mites that move, not the little buggers my lot have.

Riven, we use that shampoo once a week. Ours have given in to the indignity of being washed.

no i saw no signs of mites on my guineas at all just noticed alot of scratching and one was getting very skinny and sore and the vet gave injections and within week skinny one had plumped out no more scratching and been fine ever since

Have you looked at the Gorgeous Guineas website? Sometimes vets think pigs have mites when they actually have a fungal infection. Also, pigs can suffer with mites and fungal infection at the same time. Last November I spent £65 at the vets for mites and the problem returned so I got in touch with Chrissie at Gorgeous Gunieas and she recommended a Neem melt, a shampoo and a lotion. The fungal infection went away very quickly.

Their skin is fine, they don't scratch, they just have what looks like dust on their bums. It looks like static mites.

I have just resprayed so maybe that will do it? They are further on the end of their bums now so maybe they are dying?

I might shave them...
