their hutch had wood shavings in (on advice from petshop that will remain nameless)

I went to clean them out today and it was SO dusty (more than before).... I think it must have got in their respiratory system

I have got some new piggies now and they're on hay and only hay... that'll be ok won't it?

I thought you meant doctor there...

I thought you meant grand-parents - even worse!! I clicked just to see what cage they had been kept in!!

some wood shavings are more like sawdust. was it pets at home? i'd complain to them.

GrinnyPig · 18/03/2009 14:01

How old were they when they died? Did you keep them inside or outside?

When we first got our piggies we did use wood shavings, but having read up about it we have changed to Carefresh (it's expensive so we just use it on the part of the cage they tend to pee in) and fleece blankets.

We did experiment with using just hay but it got too smelly - we keep ours in the living room.

They were 6 months old, inside the whole time...

Yes it was PAH southeast

The hutch will be going outside soon grinnypig - as soon as someone comes round to help me move the hutch outside
