Dad's dog not being looked after

My dad is having a hard time as it is with my mum as she needs constant care as she has dementia but his dog is suffering as well.
The poor thing's nails are so long they are curling up on themselves but he is too embarassed to take him to the vets and he won't cut them as he howls too much!
Also for years this dog has had VERY bad fur problems, falling out with angry red patches everywhere and almost chewed his own tail off.
Then yesterday i went to visit (only go once a month) as over 60 miles away, and i noticed the dog was looking much better and had loads of fur. Trully amazing.
Dad said it was because they decided to stop giving him cow's milk! I mean COW'S MILK! he had not even thought about mentioning this to the vet!
I despair sometimes! That poor dog has suffered so much

aw poor pooch - do you think you could take him to a vet to get his claws clipped? assume from that he's not getting many walks either?

Poor doggie.

For the life of me I can't remember the name but I'm sure there is a service/charity who will come and help them look after their dog as most people know a dog can really help older people and keep them company etc.

I really wish I could remmeber the name for you.

is it the cinnamon trust?

LuckySalem · 08/03/2009 20:27

Yeh I think that's the ones.

MitchyInge · 08/03/2009 20:28

Well done Mitch. It's a lovely charity and well worth looking into.

Poor doggie!!!

Sad, but sometimes people can hurt dogs with kindness... my dad is always giving my dog cows milk and bread like it's going out of fashion... I actually invented a story that the vet said the dog had a wheat allergy and wasn't allowed to eat any white bread / rice etc.,

It was the only way I could stop him.

my dad loves the dog, but does over do it!!

Hope your dad is able to get a little help.
