How do I teach dd1 to get on with the puppy?

She is horrified of it. She is worried it nibbles her toes. But this results in her running around the living room screeching in banshee like fashion and diving about the furniture.

Giving me a headache and exciting the puppy further. Causing her to run at dd1 yapping to 'play the game' cue more screeching and screaming.

Dd2 is calm around the puppy and in return the pup seems to play gently with her. It's as if she knows not to nip the baby and will play by rolling over and fetching dd2 toys to throw.

Anyone? She has only been up an hour and has already been sent to her room to play.

how old is she?

older then 3 then she must be disciplined to NOT do the running around screaming thing

She is five. I a trying to teach her. Hence the reason she has been sent to he room untill she learns to play quietly.

She is given the oportunity to have 'quiet time' with the puppy who is actually quite well behaved considering it's age and knows that floor time is playtime, laptime is cuddle time.

But this doesn't stop the screaming. I have told her if she stops screeching the puppy will stop chasing her.

on the stairs everytime she screams about the puppy? time out?

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 08/03/2009 09:14

hmm time out on the stairs might work.

Though I have a feeing she will spend most of today on the stairs. Hopefully though this will help drill the message in.

I think the RSPCA do a good leaflet for little kids about how to act around dogs i.e not screaming etc. I'll do a search for it.

is this any good?
