My Dyson has died after 11 years of services.

Need a new one, have a black lab who is a serial shedder!

Any reccommendations appreciated

2 black labs = V much hair (and mud and leaves and debris) = Miele Cat and Dog in our house.

It is a fabulous, fabulous thing.

bella29 · 02/03/2009 11:33

I used to have the Miele but switched to a Dyson.

Miss my Miele....

cazboldy · 02/03/2009 11:40

I have a vax vx zero. Border Collie here so loooooong hair. It has a little motorized brush that sweeps it all off the top of the carpet. Best one I have found!

BooBooChicken · 02/03/2009 11:45

my dyson is very good but it's the relentless nature of lab shedding, no matter how much i groom him, there is always more. i blame central heating..!

countingto10 · 02/03/2009 12:37

Miele Cat & Dog here too ! Got a Goldendoodle now rather that a border collie - so far no shedding

hercules1 · 02/03/2009 13:18

Miele cat and dog here too althogu tbh next time I'll buy a henry I think. Bloddy expensive bags that need replacing every few days!

JumpingDizzy · 02/03/2009 13:24

Is a goldendoole cheaper than a miele?

Only kidding Dr I'm a dog lover and wouldn't change my ultra moulting mutt for anything.

JumpingDizzy · 02/03/2009 13:24

meant goldendoodle

bella29 · 02/03/2009 13:29

You just want the little red smiley face on the Henry, don't you Hercules?

I also have a Roomba - multiple vacuum power needed in my hairy house!

parkj83 · 02/03/2009 21:37

I have dyson, dc11, for 2 dogs and mum has ancient miele cat & dog for 1 dog (saluki x). She used to have a bagless panasonic, but that packed up after about 6 months of constant Saluki shedding.

my dyson knocks spots off her miele everytime (sorry mum!)

I used to sell vacuum cleaners in electrical store, wouldn't touch Hoover vacuums with a barge pole! Am very biased towards Dyson, sorry!

FairMidden · 02/03/2009 21:45

Miele Cat and Dog, never found anything to come close to it.

Lilyloo · 02/03/2009 21:54

I have Vax Turbo force ultra pet.
Black collie and cream carpets!
Is really good has rotating brush bar.

Goober · 02/03/2009 21:56

Dyson Animal.

choochoochaboogie · 06/03/2009 09:42

I have Miele too and its great, although I don't have long haired dog. You can buy cheaper bags on line have used this one in past but generally I shop around for cheapest even if have to buy in quantity

Tiggiwinkle · 06/03/2009 09:48

3 dogs here (including long-haired German Shepherd-must be one of the worst for moulting!). We have a Miele Cat and Dog. It is great-have had several dysons and there was no comparison.

DrNortherner · 07/03/2009 16:18

Hmm, stuck between Dyson animal and Miele now - off to investigate and do price comparisons. Currently have a Dyson and it has lasted 10 years so am v impressed I must say but it is really on its last legs.

Are Henry's reall any good? I remember using them in my chamber maiding days but seeing as I was about 16 the efficiency of hoovers did not concern me!
