My lovely old GSD just went outside and bellowed at big

shut the f*ck up to some yappy, that's been at it for the last god knows how many nights, and so far no response! He's not normally out in the garden so late, but obviously a big german shepherd bark (followed by a very loud splashy wee) did the trick! Thank goodness!

You maybe right, but the incessant yapping of small dog is annoying. I just am astounded that he has managed to quiet the yappy!
We're not normally stood by the back door so late, so yes wine is involved! My mate was having a fag! I don't normally listen to dog conversations.

Ca I borrow him, we've got 2 large somethings over the back and a yappy thing.........drives me a little nutty sometimes

Can just imagine small yappy thing pooping itself at sudden realisation that there is a very big dog next door

He's very gentle, all mouth and no trousers. But my god....he's effective!

Still no yapping! Sorry to the doubters, but you've no idea what a relief that is!

DH wants a GSD. I think this might be one more point in their favour....

He is the best dog I've ever had! Only had scotties as a child (also lovely). But DH grew up with GSD. When we got together he was away so much (forces) it was the only breed of dog he would agreed to. And I have to say they grow on you.
Protective, intelligent, loyal, gentle just fab, trustworthy. But we have had him since he was 6 weeks old so have made him what he is.
Brilliant with our children...you're going to end up with one at this rate!

Told dh about your yappy neighbour and he smiled in that smug 'you see, I told you they're great dogs' sort of way...

my border collie has a ferocious bark as well- she has had delivery drivers nearly cack themselves- mum always shuts her in the kitchen while she answers the door to strangers. She is VERY protective.
