Does anyone own a TT? I have a 9 month male TT who just won't settle in the house. He gets a long walk of at least an hour every day but nothing seems to tire him out. He runs around like a wild caged animal. If I go upstairs he howls like a baby.He is a great dog but at the moment he is making my life a misery. I am a SAHM so he is not left for any length of time. HELP!! Any advice welcome.

Training?

Sounds like you may benefit from some

Has he been castrated??

indignatio · 22/01/2009 19:08

Ours was in charge in my household when I was growing up.

He has not been castrated yet. We will get that sorted. He went to puppy training for 6 weeks. He will do anything for food, so was quite easy to train. He's off the lead when out and is good unless we meet another dog, then he will not come back! He just doesn't seem to settle during the day, even with me for company. Nights are also a problem. He seems to have separation anxiety, its like having a todler again!!!

I would highly reccommend Dog whispere by Jan Fennell.
Also casration should calm him down too.

We have had rescue TTs in the past (and are on a waiting list for another rescue one!) and they are absolutely gorgeous dogs - but quite stubborn!

It took the first one I had probably about a year to settle with me. Castration stopped him from wandering off, and as he got older, he settled down and became the most placid (although still stubborn!) dog in the world.

Thanks for that qmum. They are amazing dogs. You are right about the stubborn bit.Unless he sees a reason he won't do it, whatever it is. He is a perfect match for my 5 year old too. I some ways they are quite the same!!! I just need him to sit still and be calm sometimes.
