They'll be fine and should recover quickly. Will be a bit subdued for a day or so but will probably just sleep. But then they'll be back to normal.

My cat was a little quiet for a couple of hours after she came around but then started trying to climb everything and everyone and was back to her naughty self!

Vet asked me to try and keep her calm easier said than done

seeker · 10/01/2009 08:31

I remember the vet saying "Don't let her jump for a week or two" Yeah, right - she was a kitten! I really tried - but gave up after a day or two and she was fine.

They'll have a shaved patch which looks slightly shocking but soon grows back.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/01/2009 08:45

As others have said, they may be a little quiet for a short while. A friend of mine is a vet and she said that the aneasthetics they use now are really short acting which has the down side of not keeping the cat quiet for a bit after the op.
My bad cat escaped after a few days and shot 30ft up the nearest tree. IShe was fine!

How old are your two, cheesesarnie? Am trying to work out when to book my two (boy and girl) in - I think they're about four and a half months old...

cheesesarnie · 13/01/2009 20:19

6 months.vet said that different vets do it younger(5 months i think) though so might be worth phoning to ask.

Thanks. Will ring vet at end of the month. Because I've got one of each, am worried about leaving it too late, iyswim! They are rescue kittens and their mum was only eight months old when she had them... They just seem so tiny to be having an op!
