Dog eating Cat Poo!

We have a labrador who seems to enjoy eating cat faeces. Does anyone have any answers for this or have the same problem? It is the most disgusting thing and if we cant stop our dog doing this I dont think we can keep her.

Our lab did this all the time

we were told it was because of vitamins they get from it

but no idea if that is true

I think some dogs just like to do this. I'm not sure there is much you can do to stop it. Getting rid of the dog seems a bit harsh though? Are you worried about the hygiene aspect of it?

The problem is she goes out in the garden if not on the lead and finds it. I cant stop cats coming in the garden. Then after about 1/2 hour she sicks is all up and it is the most disgusting thing ever. I am usually sick myself and the children have been known to retch if the get the smell. She has been sick over their toys before now!!

EUUUUGH that is TRULY disgusting!

I can't think of any useful advice, sorry.

Next doors dog used to rush into our porch if he could see the litter tray!

my 3 dogs used to do this. the litter tray is now in the small toilet and they cant get in there now. i used to put a stair gate over the door so the cats could get through and the dogs couldnt. i live in the countryside and my dogs eat cow poo, horse poo and deer poo. in fact they eat anything and they get fed loads at home

But scotishmumto1 are they sick with it? I wouldnt mind so much if she could stomach it.

Yeuk - makes me want to vomit reading this. We used to have a dog years ago when I was a kid who went through a phase of eating his own. GROSS!

ellie. i dont think they been sick eating the poo. its all the other things they eat that make them sick. like when they find dead deer and the wosrt is , we have salmon that wash up on the burn next to us once they have died after spawning, they eat them and now that is disgusting.

the short time we had our puppy we had to offer our cat a litter box up on a garden table, the dog was always trying ti lick the cats bum and ate the poo
it grossed me out too

I know it is not funny!!! And my dog hasn't YET eaten poo (That I know of!!)
My mums dog brings in poo from the garden as if it is a present!!! She doesn't eat it but still the thought of lumps of poo in the dogs mouth! Urgh!!!

We used to have a black lab who ate horse poo, but it wasnt too bad coz it's mostly hay
