We have a new Kitten she is a British shorthaired and is 17 weeks old she is a lovely little thing but she keeps jumping up on to my lap with her claws out (my legs show the scares) is there anything I can do to stop her?

Is she sitting on your lap kind of kneading you with her claws?

This is just a cat thing..

If she's jumping at you with claws out she's playing I think.

The only solution I've ever had for the kneading thing is to get them to sit on a cushion on your lap. All the cats I've ever had have done this and I've never managed to find a way to stop them.

Ah the running up the trouser leg, or launching themselves onto you from stairways or window shelves?

They eventually grow out of this!!

I've had cats all my life, and no 2 have ever been the same. Some have wee traits and tendencies that others don't. Sometime you just have to grin and bear the claw marks till the daft kitten stage is over/
