They were there the last time I cleaned them, and now they are back again. I have been wiping them off with a cloth. They are goldfish and they are 11 years old now, and I have never seen them before in the tank! They are only little, and are at the top of the water line. Thanks

They are either snail eggs or fish eggs. If the fish eat them, they are fish eggs. If they seem to leave them alone they are probably snail eggs.

sounds like fish eggs to me

we get them, but unfort other fish eat them so dont get baby fish

omg I can't believe they are fish eggs - my fish are geriatric now - had given up hope! And now I cleaned them away!

I thought they were disease pest thngs.

I have 3 fish. One has a swim bladder problem now, one has a poorly eye, and the other has a cataract (but they are happy) - not ideal qualities in a parent to be is it!!

Don't you think they would have had babies by now though? I've never sen them before. I've got no snails so cant be snail eggs!

You can help the process by bunging in a pair of tights - they will float on the top and work as a 'nursery' (no I'm not kidding) attach them to the roof so they can't float away.

Perhaps they have fishy viagra?

Ooooh I'm jealous

Been waiting for years for our goldfish to get randy.

whomovedmychocolate · 30/12/2008 22:47

girlandboy - are you sure you haven't got girlandgirl in there?

FYI fish mate quite often but many eat the eggs before you get wind of it.

We have koi and started with three and now have over three hundred less than three years later Sex maniacs koi!

girlandboy · 30/12/2008 22:49

Bugger it! I bet we've got 3 all the same sex.

There's been the odd fatality over the years, and therefore the odd newcomer arriving, but never a sign of babies on the way!

Fish eat the eggs, so you need a hatchery. Either a tank divider or scoop eggs out into seperate tank.

whomovedmychocolate · 30/12/2008 22:52

Have you sexed them?

Blimey, this might take some time.

bladder infections can be cured but only if you get some swim bladder treatment asap
