Puppy growls and bites when playing. Should we be discouraging the growling?

Obviously we are trying to stop her biting by putting her in another room.

When she chases her toys or plays catch in the garden she growls. I must admit that it is a bit DH's fault as he plays with her and gets her all excited. I just caught DD growling back at her and she said that papa does that.

Should we be discouraging her? She is lighter than a bag of sugar so I am not worried about her hurting anyone but is this making her more aggressive?

I have no idea what an expert opinion would be but I would discourage growling in a play situation.

I would use the same leave and ignore technique for growling as for play biting. However, my 7 month old puppy has never growled so I have not had to deal with that one yet!

Would be interested to see what someone more qualified would suggest.

Good Luck!
