puppy is 5m and will only do his business in the kitchen. fine (at least its not on the living room carpet) but i am using enough bleach to dissolve the floor. any house training tips?

Dont use bleach. The ammonia in it makes it smell like a toilet area for him. Use biological washing powder. It breaks down the emzymes and gets rid of the smell that only he can smell. He should be fully house trained by now.

Watch for signs that he is ready to go, and wheech him outside as soon as you spot them! They often stop playing and start sniffing about, sometimes look round at their own back end (!) or become unsettled. You will be in and out like a yoyo, and out of 10 outings, he will maybe perform only once (leaving you applauding and praising wildly, as if he had performed a great work of art ) but eventually he will get the message- it goes outside! Good luck

An edible treat everytime he performs in the garden?

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/12/2008 17:02

lissie - we still have the odd wee in house

and puppy pisses himself in excitment when db comes in - he apparently thinks db is boss

i dont do that

merrylissiemas · 21/12/2008 17:15

lol blondes. he is a v good puppy and he understands that he cant do it in living room etc, but cant seem to get him out of the kitchen habit!

If you trained him to newspapers in the kitchen, it is understandable that he thinks it's ok to go there- this happened with my dog, but I set a weekend aside where I was in and out like a loon and within a couple of days he had got the message!

JingleBellaAllTheWay · 21/12/2008 17:19

We call that submissive urination, blondie

Very glad to hear you don't do it too

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/12/2008 21:29

well, i can contain my excitment - just

submissive - so why doesnt the puppy go down on floorin a lie down position instead of weeing?

JingleBellaAllTheWay · 21/12/2008 22:02

Total submission is lying on their back with optional urination... Does your pup do that or just wee?

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/12/2008 20:54

he just wees

jups up and then you see a puddle on the floor

JingleBellaAllTheWay · 22/12/2008 20:59
