Have had my lovely dog for years and it is guessed she is nearly 18yrs old[was a rescue pup so no exact date]. The past week or so she has been really naughty.Stealing food from the children, she ate a full packof chocolate digestives from dhs bedside draw[dont ask] and this year has tried to run away 3 times. I have just been on school run and let her out before I left as I always do have returned to her having pooped and weed everywhere. It was even on my christmas tree in the conservatroy FGS. So do all dogs go naughty or just mine? She has always been a really well behaved dog.

I think someone's having a second puppyhood. My mum's 10 year old bc is going thorugh that at th emomemnt. Poor mum. She has never soiled in the house though. Could she be going through the doggy equivelant of dementia?

My dog is just naughty all the time.

tipsy suppose it is possible..not like she could tell me. Thing is she is still a spirited little thing with bounds of energy..almost too much considering her age. I sort of expected her to get snappy with dc[which she never has yet] or to soil occasionally as she got older but not when I had only let her out 10 minutes before and its like she has gone around marking things if that makes sense as wasnt all in one place.

could be. Any other pets at home?

Ripeberry · 18/12/2008 16:28

Ahh poor little thing! She's just eccentric and must have read that book 'When i'm old i shall wear purple'! Basically do what she likes.

no other pets, we have just had a new conservatory put on but then we had building work done last year and she didnt mess it..its also the eating well snatching from the dc. Dh said maybe she was hungry so we increased her food but she is still doing it

my old bitch is definitely cheekier now compared to her younger days.
Steals food, ignores me pretends to be deaf etc.
Mine poos and wees inside sometimes, her poos are also scattered becasue she does it while she's walking around..no muscle strength in the back anymore.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 18/12/2008 20:56

Well, my old boy is 13 1/2 and has become profoundly deaf recently. I have to stand flailing my arms like a windmill just to get his attention, and he seems to have forgotten (or have chosen to forget!) the most simple rules (ie you don't raid the bin, especially not when mum is standing right behind you.)

I do think they get a bit senile as they get older, and revert to a weird kind of puppyhood. I just keep telling myself that, frustrating as it is, I'm really going to miss the old bugger when he goes, so I try to overlook it.

ggirlsbells · 18/12/2008 20:58

lol joolyjoole-happy stole out of the bin tonight...right in front of us!
