Mum & Dads dog and Chrimbo

I have a 18mth old DS a 1yr old puppy and am about to pop out No.2 currently 40+2.

We invited my parents to spend Christmas Day with us this yr. At the time they did not have a dog as theirs had sadly been put down. Since the invite they now have another dog a lovely sweet little thing.

The problem is my vv boisterous puppy and mum & dads dog dont really get on. I thought they were going on holiday directly from my house on Boxing day so assumed their dog would be in the kennels I found out the other day they have got their dog a pet passport so if they go, they havn't booked a ferry yet the dog would be with them. How do I go about talking to mum about not having the dog here as it means the entire day will be spent trying to control the dogs. By the way my mum is uber sensitive and and takes offence at the slightest thing.

could you suggest your puppy may upset their dog?

MadameCastafiore · 10/12/2008 13:45

You should arrange for your dog to be elsewhere - my house my dog stays is the rule here if your dog doesn;t like it then it is not invited.

Will try the the dogs may upset each other but I fear I am heading down the route of having mum being in a right huff. Ho hum families.

why not put the ball in her court..say 'Mum, I've been stressing...what are we going to do about the two dogs around the new baby?' see what she suggests...?

JamInMyWellies · 10/12/2008 18:08

DDfred that is a brill idea as she will be much more responsive to that. Thanks a mill.

Can you put the dogs in seperate rooms with food/water/ toys for part of the day...bring them out to play at different times. Even give them 30ins slots and tell your mum its due to the baby. My dogs are brilliant they go into there bedroom for xmas day whilst we have family over, they are big dogs and would frighten my grandparents half to death, But they love it, they sleep most of the time and we go up with turkey left overs for them!!
