leaving our kitty for the first time

he is only 10 months old and we are going away for 4 days. MIL will be coming to feed him, but i have got my knickers in a twist about leaving him alone for all that time. Do you think I should put him in a cattery? We have two other cats who we regularly leave for long weekends All 3 use the cat flap and MIL will call every day to do feeding. Am I fussing over nothing?

i was the same with my kitten who is over a year old now. i was very protective over her. we have an older cat too. i was that bad i wouldnt even let my kitten outside but she goes out every day now. i am sure your kitten will be fine as your mil is coming over every day. when mine was really young and was getting looked after by someone i use to leave her in part of the house with a litter tray so she wouldnt be outside.
have a nice break and he will be fine

Don't put him in a cattery unless you have no other choice. Cats get very attached to their home, and IME it's better to leave them at home and get someone in to feed him. The only time we left our cat in a cattery was a huge mistake, when we picked her up she hadn't eaten all weekend, was very depressed and stressed out, and came home riddled with fleas. He'll be fine at home.

thanks scottish mum, i know i am a big twit to worry about it, but it is probably just the stress of going away. He just looks so vulnerable, but i forgot that he is a cat and will be ok. Doh.
